In your quest to ensure your pets' health, you might come across cod liver oil. This supplement is derived from… you guessed it… the liver of a cod fish.

High in calories, it also contains omega-three fatty acids, and vitamins a and d. There's evidence that the fatty acids can be of benefit to the immune system, promote skin and fur health, and aid in the neural development of young animals.

The vitamins also support the immune system, and can help maintain vision and bone health. Keep in mind that these supplements are not strongly regulated. So get a recommendation from your veterinarian for a specific product, based on your pet's age, size, and health.
