Are you looking for a leash for your indoor cat so she can take a walk on the wild side? Buy a leash that is sturdy but flexible enough to keep your feline feeling free. Retractable leashes, as long as ten feet, will give kitty more room to explore. Be sure the leash has a good brake and is reflective.

Cats are escape artists, so attach the leash to a harness. She's less likely to give it the slip than a collar. The right-sized harness should wrap around kitty's stomach and be tight enough to prevent slippage, but loose enough for you to get two fingers underneath. Nylon or cotton harnesses are best. Leather can be bulky and uncomfortable. Attach an i-d tag, just in case your feisty furball makes a run for it.
